What is a Tooth Extraction?
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth. At Hunter Dental, our Markham dentists provide tooth extractions for wisdom teeth or teeth that are too badly damaged to save.

Wisdom teeth typically appear a few years after the last molar emerges. For some people, wisdom teeth do not cause any issues. But for others, they can grow at an angle or in the wrong position, and sometimes there is not enough room in your mouth for these added teeth.
Other issues with wisdom teeth include not fully erupting above the gum line, or becoming impacted. They can be difficult to clean due to their location, which makes them susceptible to decay. Your dentist may recommend extracting your wisdom teeth so that you can preserve the health of your other teeth.
Extensive Damage
At Hunter Dental, our team will try to save a natural tooth. However, there are occasionally circumstances that make extraction a better option.
Our Markham dentists will generally only perform an extraction if less invasive options would be ineffective or if the tooth is endangering the health of other teeth.
If your tooth is too damaged to save as a result of dental decay, gum disease, or injury, your dentist may advise a tooth extraction.
